Agency and Founder Steve ValenciaAthena Insurance and Financial Services was founded in 1996 by now broker Steve Valencia.  Steve entered into the Insurance Industry in 1980 with the Prudential Company of America. As an outstanding and persevering Agent, he soon became proficient in Life, Health, Property & Casualty and Securities.

In 1985 Steve Valencia and his Father Thomas Casio Valencia Sr. went into land development in Calaveras County. Their first land project was a mixed use Mini-Storage / Warehouse project designed for public and contractor use.  Many of the units had a storage and mini-office design.

Also during this time, Steve took over ownership of Country View Nursery, obtained his C-27 contractor license and acted as a contractor for nearly five years before tying his hand at the Real Estate Sales industry.

In 1991 Steve obtained his California Real Estate license and became employed by a local Real Estate Broker. But, insurance is what he liked best so in 1993 he returned to insurance. Soon after, Athena Insurance and Financial Services was founded.

Many people wonder why the name Athena Insurance was chosen. From a practical point of view in terms of marketing and positioning the name "Valencia" is far behind the name "Athena" alphabetically. So one night Steve and his daughter Sterlyng Zena Valencia sat down with a Webster's Dictionary and started pecking thru the list of words. Steve remembered his college days at Chabot College... the name "Athena" was the name given to represent a Greek Goddess of Wisdom. And so it came to be and their motto now is "Make the Wise Choice."

This site... www.ContractorInsurance.net is the "brian-child" of Steve's. His intent was to create a site that was targeted specifically to  the insurance industry. (Athena Insurance and Financial Services also has the personal lines site at www.Athenainsurance.com)

In addition, he also wanted to expand the agency into multiple States. So today...he operates in the States of Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon and Nevada.

And then there is more...Steve also formed another company to help his contractors. www.SValenciaInternational.com. S Valencia International is an internet hosting and marking company. Why go small when you can go big!
